Motorcycle Crash Reconstruction

This 5-day block of training expands on the collision knowledge of the techniques and applications that are taught in a basic collision investigation course and introduces students to the mental and physical requirements needed for operators to safely operate a motorcycle. This course is for those who wish to build upon the fundamentals with a more advanced concept of mathematical formulas utilized to analyze motorcycle collisions. ACTAR CEUs awarded.

2. Determining Acceleration and Deceleration Characteristics of Motorcycles.

3. Understanding the Nomenclatures of Motorcycles and Systems Identifications.

4. Analyzing the Characteristics and Principles of Gyroscopic Procession.

5. Interpreting Instability and Handling Characteristics of Motorcycles.

6. Reviewing Tires and Gearing Positions.

Mr. Michael Kerley, ACTAR

Michael Kerley began his career in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer. Michael joined the Denver Police Department and was assigned to the Accident/DUI unit. During the following years, Mr. Kerley worked at the Phoenix Police Department, Colorado State Police and Garden City Police Department in Kansas. During his career, Michael served as an accident reconstructionist, DUI enforcement officer, completing certification to inspect and enforce FMCSA rules and regulations. Mr. Kerley also oversaw the Motorcycle/Traffic Unit and served as a Drug Recognition Expert Instructor and Police Motorcycle Instructor.

Michael also worked as a professor for the National American University teaching criminal justice and business courses.

Mr. Kerley has a AS degree in Agricultural Business from Garden City community College, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Central Christian College in Kansas, a Master’s in Business Administration and a Masters in Management from National American University. During all Michael’s free time, he is currently working on completing his Ph.D with Waldon University focusing on the causation of marijuana effects on traffic accident fatalities.

Mr. Kerley is also ACTAR accredited.

Mr. Tyson Kropp, ACTAR

Tyson Kropp completed 20 years with the Abilene Police Department where he worked as a collision reconstructionist. During this career, Mr. Kropp completed the 80-hour Northwestern and Harley Davidson Police Operator course along with the 120-hour Northwestern and Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle Instructor course. During his riding career, Tyson competed in numerous competitions finishing near the top of the competitors. Mr. Kropp became the primary instructor for the Abilene Police Department’s motorcycle training program.

Tyson is currently on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (TAARS), holding the position of Treasurer.

Mr, Kropp is ACTAR accredited and started his own company, Scientific Collision and Reconstruction Services where he is an accident reconstructionist.
