About the Authors

Tony Becker

Tony has nearly 45 years of experience as an investigator, consultant and educator specializing in traffic crash reconstruction. His law enforcement career began as a Military Police officer the US Army, and continued with Henry County (IL) Sheriff's Department and Bloomington IL Police Department, on the Crash Investigation teams. He became a death investigator while serving as Chief Deputy Coroner with McLean County (IL) Coroner's Office and eventually oversaw the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

Additionally, he served many years with the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) as an instructor, Traffic Section Coordinator and Associate Director. During his time at IPTM, Tony developed and delivered curriculum in the field of traffic crash reconstruction and investigation, including IPTM's Advanced Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation Course based on his years of research in the area of Ped/Cyclist Crash Investigation. His publications have been widely used in the field.

Tony established Forensic Training Group in 2016 and became Managing Partner in 2023. He is a qualified expert instructor for any of the classes that Forensic Training Group offers.

Tony holds a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and is ACTAR certified.

Mike Reade

Mike Reade retired in 2000 after 26 years of service with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). During that time, Mike investigated 1000’s of collisions and was in charge of full-time reconstruction duties (1991-2000) for Eastern New Brunswick.

As principal & owner of Forensic Reconstruction Specialists Inc. (FRSI), located in Riverview, New Brunswick, Mike provides consulting services, specializing in several collision disciplines (crash reconstruction, forensic drawing, and simulation (Virtual CRASH). He has been involved in pedestrian/cyclist testing, research, and training since 2000.

During his time (1993-2022) as an adjunct instructor with the University of North Florida - Training Services (IPTM), Mike co-developed the Advanced Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation Course as well as co-authored the Fundamentals of Pedestrian/Cyclist Traffic Crash Reconstruction publication with Tony Becker, which has become a top seller amongst reconstructionists in the field.
